The nature of the universe is dualistic.
There is a yin to every yang.
Things do not exist in isolation but in a cosmic interplay of polarity.
From the macro to the micro, everything is encoded with this truth.
Stars and galaxies all exist within the cosmic womb of the Divine Mother and the sustaining breath of the Divine Father.
At the micro level of an individual human, we see this balance of feminine and masculine energies within the right brain (emotional, creative, feminine) and the left brain (rational, logical, masculine).
Each human being has an emotional (feminine) and logical (masculine) side to them, albeit one side tends to be dominant to varying degrees in most individuals.
Feminine energy is soft, artistic, and free-flowing while masculine energy is controlled, goal-driven, and structured.
Each human can (and does) predominantly use either of these energies at any given point in time.
Masculine energy is great for tasks that have a deadline and need to be completed in a methodical manner.
Feminine energy is suitable for creative experimentation that allows for emotional expression.
When used together, both these energies can create a balanced explosion of power that can be channeled more effectively toward any endeavor.
For instance, when speaking with colleagues, have you noticed whether you primarily speak from logic and intellect or emotion and relatability?
Perhaps it would benefit you to use both in a balanced way. In other words, connecting with the person on a human level while also speaking about the task at hand in a rational manner.
It may sound simple, but as you begin noticing where in your mind and body you are primarily coming from, you will be surprised.
Feminine energy in the day-to-day experience is usually felt in the heart (seat of love, relatability, compassion), while masculine energy tends to be experienced in the stomach (seat of power and confidence) and head (seat of rationality).
A helpful question to ask yourself when identifying which polarity you are primarily operating from, is “Am I coming from my heart or my intellect?”
As another example, when composing a piece of music, you could create purely from intellect, measuring out verses according to meter and stringing together lyrics that your rational mind deems fit well together; or, you could create purely from inspiration, jotting down the lyrics and rhythm as you channel them, not concerned whatsoever about timing and meter and going with the free-flow of feelings; or, you could incorporate both intellect and inspiration, by channeling the music while also paying attention to the overall structure and rhythm. This last exercise engages both sides of the brain and makes for a richer experience.
The subtle balancing of our yin nature and our yang nature can be accomplished through self-awareness and mindfulness as illustrated above, yet there are always cosmic forces at play that take us through deeper initiations of energetic embodiment.
How balanced do you think you are in your yin-yang polarities?
